"If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else!"

To be successful in life requires careful planning, setting goals, evaluation, and the commitment of time and effort.  Priorities are established to focus our efforts on what we wish to achieve.  A student working towards a diploma prioritizes her time focusing on studies and preparation.  We may drive an older car in order to purchase a house or to set money aside for retirement.  To be successful in life, we must set our goals, establish our priorities, and commit our time and effort to achieve what we have set out to do.

Is this not also true of our Christian life?  Our relationship with Jesus does not develop simply by coming to church.  To achieve success in our relationship with Jesus requires the setting of goals, the establishing of priorities, and the commitment of our time and effort.

Consider the following verses:  Luke 14:28-30; 2 Corinthians 13:5a; Philippians 2:12b; 1 Timothy 4:7b; 1 Corinthians 3:14; Revelation 21:7.

Consider:  What will be the quality of your relationship with Jesus six months from now?  One year from now?  What quality of relationship do you desire with Jesus?  What will you do to move you farther along in your relationship with Him?  It is crucial that each of us evaluate our lives to see where we are lacking and what we need to prioritize in our relationship with Jesus.
